First of all, you will never have a business if no one knows about it, right?

So what can you do about it?

Let them know that you're there!!

You do this by advertising yourself, AND your site. Anywhere and everywhere (within legal and moral boundaries, of course!).

Below is a list of safelists, classified resources, and more, that will help you to "get the word out".

First things first, though.

You may not know, but some safelists will let you mail everyday, while others will only allow it ever 24, 48, 72 (hours), or even only once per week. As you join a new safelist, you will need to decide whether upgrading to Premium member is what's best for you. This will have a big impact on the frequency of your mailings. I will suggest that you join each of these first as a free member, track your results, and upgrade in the ones that are performing the best for you.
(I have indicated below which ones I believe is definitely worth the upgrade fees, indicated by a *).

While thinking of frequency of your mailings, you should consider creating bookmark folders to reflect the mailing times.
Once you upgrade your account, you can move the bookmarks to reflect the mailing time.  For example: if you have 4 safelists that allow you to mail every day, create a folder for "Daily Ads", and bookmark these sites into that folder.  Now, if  others allow every 2 days, create a folder for Mon/Wed/Fri (or whichever days work for you.). Many people choose not to mail on weekends, so this makes scheduling easy, but you will miss out on an extra mailing if you choose this path.

Before signing up for a bunch of safelists, you need to consider the fact that, if you send an ad to the database, then others are allowed to send their ads to you, right? You need to have an email box big enough to handle hundreds (maybe thousands), of emails coming in everyday. For this purpose, I will suggest gmail. It's free, and you will have plenty of room to store these messages.

Now, just as you have to organize your safelist bookmarks, you will need to create a folder in gmail for "Credit Safelists". Many of the safelists I will show you below, require you (and your readers), to click a link within the email to earn credits to enable them (and you!), to send emails. This really does make them more responsive, as they HAVE to at least view your ad! Now, let's be real: nobody has time to read thousands of emails every day just to collect credits, right? This way, when you login to your gmail account, you know the ones that are "more important" for you to open, because they offer you an incentive. Of course, we should open and read any email with an enticing subject line - after all, we all want our ads read, right?
